How to survive when it's snowing in the UK

Čo robiť, keď v Anglicku sneží ( tipy a triky odpozerané priamo od domorodcov ) :
What to do when it's snowing in the UK ( some useful hints learnt directly from the locals ):

1.) keď začne snežiť, sme veľmi prekvapení a sledujeme tento zázrak iba z bezpečnej vzdialenosti od okna (samozrejme zvnútra!!), keď sneženie pretrváva, zrušíme deťom vyučovanie v škole a taktiež ukončíme pracovný deň, pretože prestanú chodiť vlaky, autobusy a nedočkáme sa taxíka ani iného dopravného prostriedku. Chodníky a cesty sa neudržiavajú, počíta sa totiž s prirodzeným roztopením tejto nepríjemnej bielej hmoty

When it starts snowing, be very surprised and watch that miracle only from a safe distance from your window (of course from the inside!!), when the snowing doesn't stop, cancel all your activities, kids go home from school and everyone leaves workplace because the trains stops working, and it would be more than difficult to catch a bus, taxi or any other mean of transportation. No one takes care of the sidewalks and roads, this mean white something is supposed to melt any time soon anyway

2.) zásadne nechodíme po vonku keď sneží, sneh je totiž nebezpečný! Po vonku  chodia len deti (ktoré sú z tejto nečakanej situácie nadšené ako deti kdekoľvek inde na svete) a odvážnejší rodičia, poväčsinou prisťahovalci z Východnej a Strednej Európy

Be sure not to go out, snow is DANGEROUS! Only kids are allowed to play outside ( who are excited by this surprising situation as all the kids around the world) and you can rarely meet few courageous people, mostly immigrants from the Eastern and Central Europe

3.) von nejdeme ani večer, keď sa už všetok sneh roztopil, ak náhodou niekoho vonku stretneme, nezabudneme ho pochváliť za prejavenú odvahu (v miestnej indickej reštaurácii sme boli dokonca odmenené lassi zadarmo)

Do not even go out in the evening when all the snow is melted away, if by any chance you meet someone in the street, don't forget to praise him for his outstanding courage ( we were given a free lassi in a local Indian restaurant )

4.) na ďalší deň, keď si na sneh už nepamätáme a chodníky sú vysušené od vetra, vyrazíme von v gumákoch. Gumáky nenosíme keď prší, nosíme ich keď sneží, resp. keď sa sneh roztopí. Alternatívou k tejto obuvi sú biele plátenky, pre deti sa doporučujú balerínky s ponožkami.

The following day, when no one can't actually remember the snow anymore and the ground is blown dry by the wind, wear wellies. Do not wear wellies when it rains, wear them when it snows, or better said, when the snow melts. As an alternative to these shoes you can wear white summer sneakers, for kids flat ballerina shoes with socks are more than recommended

Módny tip: ku gumákom sa skvele hodia šortky, hlavne keď teploty klesnú až hlboko k nule, táto kombinácia je oku lahodiaca a veľmi vhodná na okázalé príležitosti, napr. na večernú bohoslužbu do kostola. Ako čerešničku, ktorá výborne podčiarkne tento outfit, volíme letnú košeľu s havaskými motívmi

Hint how to be in: we can perfectly combine the wellies with shorts, especially when the temperature reaches zero, this choice is very pleasant and lovely and particularly suitable for  occasions like holy mess. When you want to do your best and be a star in this outfit, wear a summer shirt with Hawaiian patterns

5.) ak je vonku chladno (freezing cold - okolo nuly), zásadne si nezapíname kabát (ak sme však takí zimomriví a vôbec nejakí si oblečieme), kabát sa nosí zásadne rozopnutý, pod ním len tričko prípadne ľahký svetrik
If it's f****ng cold outside (means around zero), do not button up your jacket (if you possess one), under your jacket do wear only a t-shirt or a light sweater.
