Brighton

Brighton je moje obľúbené mesto tu za morom. Londýn ma veľmi neočaril, príde mi, že sa miestni architekti nejak nevedeli dohodnúť v akom štýle mesto vystavať a tak sa vedľa historickej budovy čnie presklený mrakodrap a krížom cez ulicu budova v tvare kocky, za ktorú by sa nemuseli hanbiť ani inženýři z NDR.

Brighton is my favourite English city so far. I didn't fell in love in London, it seems to me, that the local architects just weren't able to agree on what style would they build the city in, so no, you can find a wonderful old building next to a skyscraper while on the opposite side of the road, there would be an ugly cubic building that would perfectly fit to our part of the world.

Každopádne ma viac očaril Brighton, je to prímorské mesto (a to já mám ráááád) a spoločne s Worthingom a LittleHamptonom tvorí pobrežnú konurbáciu s počtom obyvateľov 480 tis. (samotný Brighton má okolo 150 tis.) Prvé, čo som sa o tomto meste dozvedela bolo, že je to centrum homosexuálov Anglicka, ale kto a prečo mi to povedal, už neviem. 

Anyway, I really like Brighton, it's a city on the south coast (I looove the sea) and together with Worthing and Littlehampton forms a conurbation with around 480,000 inhabitants ( out of which 150,000 live in Brighton itself). The first thing I got to know about this city was that it is the "gay capital og England", I somehow can't remember who and why told me this.

Celkový ráz mesta je ....  ako to nazvať....hippie. Centrum tvoria nespočetné uličky s malými obchodíkmi, v ktorých sa dá nájsť úplne všetko, od topánok a oblečenia až po kuchynské potreby. Štýl nebude vyhovovať každému, je veľmi mladistvý a ne-mainstream-ový, funky.

The city is ...  how to say it ... hippie. The downtown is form of numerous narrow streets with tiny shops, where you can find anything, from shoes and cloths to kitchen gadgets. Of course not everyone would like this style,  which is very young, funky and for sure not mainstream.

V sobotu sme Brighton navštívili už asi piaty krát, tentokrát som ale poprosila kolegu, P.Fisha, o tipy na nejaké zaujímavosti. No ....nakreslil mi mapku, o to pokoj, horšie je, že mal málo papiera a tak je mapka v niektorých miestach viacvrstvová.

This Saturday we went to Brighton for the fifth time, this time I asked my colleague, Mr. Fish, to recommend me some nice places. Well... he drew me a map, very kind of him, what is not so kind is, that the map is in some parts more-layered...he just run out of the paper.

Remark: Tá mŕtvola na chodníku je naháč zostavený z mozaiky.

Remark: The dead body on the sidewalk is a naked guy made out of mosaic.

Našťastie si na nás spravil čas a tak sme mapku nepoužili, každopádne, nabudúce ju určite využijeme, obsahuje okrem vyhlásených reštaurácii aj obchodíky, ktoré si nemôžem nechať ujsť a dokonca aj miestny zámok a kostol, kde sú zaujímavé výstavy. 


Fortunately, he had some free time and we weren't forced to use the map, next time, I'll use it for sure, except for the well known restaurants and shops, that I can't miss, it contains also the pavilion and a church, where some interesting exhibitions are usually held.
